First day of Pre-k!

Today was Kate's first day of pre-k!  She is at the same school as last year, University Covenant Nursery School.  This year she is a Marvelous Monkey and in a class with her best friend, Nicholas.  Her wonderful new teachers are Ms. Kirsten and Ms. Jen.  It will be a fun year!

Today was a casual "drop-in" day to explore their new class.  The kids were given a scavenger hunt to find certain items around the school.  Kate did an awesome job finding everything on her list!

Rascal, the rabbit, is the class pet.  Kate and Maggie already love Rascal!
 Kate found the pink dress-ups!
 Painting
Playing Barrel of Monkeys with Ms. Kirsten
 Puzzles
 Coloring with Nicholas
The science center had a huge dried sunflowers for the kids to pick the seeds out of and view them under a magnifying glass.

Trying out the "pointers" to read the memory verse of the month.
It was a fun morning!  Kate is so excited for preschool to start again!

Maggie's 2nd Birthday

On August 23, Maggie celebrated her 2nd birthday.  I can't believe my baby is now 2!  She is such a beautiful, amazing, smart, fiery little girl.

We started her birthday morning off with monkey bread breakfast.  Yummy!

 Present time!

Maggie received her very own American Girl Bitty Baby Doll.  She was so excited!
After breakfast we headed to Fairy Tale Town in Sacramento.

Kate LOVED the tree house slide and rode down at least 15 times!

Maggie could have petted the mommy and baby deer all morning long!
The biggest hit at Fairy Tale Town was watering the plants in the little garden.  The girls got nicely wet and muddy!

 Snack time!
 Such beautiful sisters!
For dinner we headed to McDonald's for Happy Meals.
On Saturday we had a princess party for Maggie with the family.  Aren't they gorgeous princesses?
 Goofy princesses too!
 Kate looks so grown up!
Will and I worked together to make this castle cake for Maggie.  The heat of the summer made it melt a little and slump over but we are still pleased with how it turned out!
"Can I sneak a bite? No one will notice!"
 Time for more presents

Maggie received chapstick from Uncle Daniel and Auntie Jess...I think she was more into her chapstick than her new doll highchair.
Cake time!  Maggie was a little overwhelmed with everyone signing to her so Kate and I helped her blow out her candles.

Maui Sightseeing

We did a few sightseeing excursions and our first trip was to the Iao Needle.  It is a beautiful tropical rain forest type setting with paths leading all around the park.
 Iao Needle

Surfing Goat Dairy.  This dairy is the only goat farm on Maui and they make AMAZING goat cheese and other goat-milk products.  They sell a lot of their fresh cheese to local restaurants and hotels.
We took a tour of the dairy in which the girls got to feed and milk to goats.

Kate got to milk the goats twice!
Will and I even gave it a try.
We had a sampler of all their soft goat cheeses.  They were all so delicious!
After the goat farm we headed to the famous Mama's Fish House for an amazing dinner.  This restaurant has been on the Travel Channel and Food Network for it amazing food.
Mama's Fish House it located right on the ocean making for an amazing sunset-setting.
 Kate being silly.

I wish I could share all of my photos on the blog since we had such a wonderful trip to Maui.  It was hard to leave and come back home to reality but hopefully we will be back soon!
