Memorial Day Weekend

We had the pleasure of going to our family cabin for Memorial Day weekend. We had a wonderful time hanging out with the family and enjoying the beautiful scenery surrounding us. We figured out that this is Kate's 4th time being at Tahoe and she will go one more time before her first birthday. I would definitely say we are completely spoiled having such a wonderful family cabin for us to use and enjoy. Thanks Grandma for your generosity and thanks Dad for designing such a beautiful retreat.

Kate was trying to play with Uncle Daniel's computer while he was watching a race.
The cabin is a great place to relax and nap. Somehow Daniel was able to take a little nap on the couch even with Kate making a lot of noise around him. Kate loves her Gramma and Papa!

Being goofy on the couch. On Sunday we went for a beautiful walk by the lake. The weather was so gorgeous...65 degrees and sunny.

Kate wasn't sure what to make of the lake. She hesitantly placed her hand in the water and touched the rocks below. Hopefully this summer she will get a chance to take a dip in the lake and enjoy the beach.

We had a wonderful and relaxing trip. Until next time.........

Visit from a dear friend

Yesterday my dear friend, Liz, and her family stopped by for a visit. Liz and I have been friends since the 2nd grade...that is 20 years! She and her family now live in Idaho so we don't get to see each other often. Thankfully they had a family wedding in California this weekend so they made a detour in Davis to visit for a few hours. Liz has a daughter, Hazel, that is one year older than Kate plus she has a little baby boy on the way that is due at the end of July. Kate and Hazel had a fun time "playing" together while Liz and I caught up.

Ballerina Baby

Kate is ready to follow in her mommy's footsteps and become a ballerina. Thanks to Dedushka and Grammalene, Kate has a darling tutu and ballet slippers. Today was a dreary day outside so Kate got all dressed up in her ballet outfit and posed for some pictures.

Kate has recently discovered that her car seat is really fun to climb in. Yesterday she played in her seat for 30 minutes!
Kate also enjoys going through my clothes drawer and pulling every article of clothing out. Anything to keep her busy.....

Kate's first trip to Disneyland!

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Disneyland. We had the pleasure of spending 3 days in Disneyland and California Adventure with my mom, brother, and his girlfriend. We were a little apprehensive before we left since it would be Kate's first time on a plane and sleeping in a hotel but Kate surprised us all and was an amazingly happy, easy going baby the entire time. In fact Kate seemed to love all the park rides plus she slept and ate better than she does at home...go figure.

Before we boarded the plane for LAX we enjoyed some coffee and pastries while Kate ate her banana. Afterwards Kate and Will enjoyed some bonding time together and posed for this adorable picture.

Kate enjoyed looking out the airport window at the workers below. They were actually waving back at her which she thought was the greatest. She didn't seem to notice the huge planes, though.
We lucked out and our flight was only half full so we had an entire row to ourselves. Kate did an amazing job on the flight and fell asleep for the last few minutes before we landed.
The only travel hiccup we came across was that our stroller was left at the Sacramento Airport. Thankfully Southwest was very sympathetic and gave us a loaner stroller while ours was flown in and delivered to our hotel. Once we sorted out the stroller dilemma we hopped on the Disneyland Express bus to our hotel, checked in, grabbed some lunch and headed over to Disneyland for some fun. Within seconds of entering the park Kate fell asleep in her stroller so we found a shady bench and people watched while she slept. We took this self-portrait while Kate was napping.
Will and Kate playing in our hotel room.
Kate and I on Dumbo.
Kate and Gramma in line for Jungle Cruise. (It was priceless having my mom join us since she watched Kate for us while we went on the "big" rides. THANKS MOM!!!!!!!)The three of us on the Jungle Cruise. Kate did not seem to even notice the animals on the cruise...she was more interested on chewing on Will's sunglasses.
First family Mickey picture.

Daniel and his girlfriend, Jessica. They look so cute with their Mickey ears!
Mom and Will in line for the new Toy Story Mania ride. The ride was a ton of fun and Kate could go on the ride with us!
Kate enjoying some "nakey" time before we put on her pj's.
Kate and Gramma in front of Small World. This was one of Kate's favorite rides. She rode it 3 times and loved every minute of it.

Kate also really enjoyed riding the otter on the carousel. She and my mom went on the ride 3 times in a row while we rode California Screamin'.
Waiting in line for Toy Story Mania...the second time around.
Kate did an amazing job napping in her stroller despite all the crowd noises. On Friday she took a 2.5 hour long nap in her stroller while we did Tower of Terror and California Screamin' several times. What a cutie!

This was a trip we will never forget. It was so much fun and being in the parks with Kate made it so special. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a family tradition!

More teeth!

Kate now has 3 teeth! Her top left center tooth broke through yesterday. I think the left one next to it is about to come in very soon. Thankfully it did not seem to hurt her as much as her bottom two teeth. I couldn't get any pictures of the new tooth I have included some pictures from this past week.

Now that Kate has decided she is not the biggest fan of me feeding her with a spoon I have let her try to feed herself with the spoon. This seems to keep her happy for a few bites but then she pushes the spoon away and asks for finger food. This usually also lends to a bigger mess, especially once she rips her bib off. We are having to deal with a lot of stains on her clothes.

I have been trying to get creative with finger foods for Kate. The other day I made her some sweet potato/carrot pancakes. She ate a little bit but she wasn't too thrilled by them. She prefers banana, cheese, strawberries and Gerber Puffs. I have tried dried prunes, hard boiled egg yolks and pasta but she tries a few bites and then decides she doesn't really like them. Any suggestions?

This is just a cute picture of Kate hanging out and lounging.

SMILE!!!!!
Our poor cat is constantly being abused by Kate. Kate is always hunting her down and pulling on her tail or climbing on top of her. For some reason Annie, our cat, refuses to run away and just takes the abuse. I feel bad for Annie but Kate gets such a kick out of "petting" her. It is quite a common occurrence to have Kate covered in cat fur from head to toe. It is a battle I have decided not to fight. :-)
