Fridays with Maggie

Now that Maggie is in school 4 days a week, Fridays have become our special days.  In the past we have spent Friday's going to gymnastics.  This year Maggie requested to not continue gymnastics so we found other activities to keep us busy while Kate is at school.

Every Friday afternoon we attend an art class at our local Davis Arts Center.  Each week the teacher has a new project for the kids to make.  Usually painting, gluing and cutting are involved.  Maggie loves every second of this 45 minute class!

This week Maggie made a picture of owls sitting in a tree.  The owls are created with her hand prints.

After art class Maggie heads to ballet.  She is now old enough to dance at the same dance studio as Kate.  She loves ballet and she has a natural ability to move her body gracefully.  She looks like a true dancer!

I love my Maggie Fridays!

Soccer season has begun!

Kate's first soccer game of the season occurred this morning.  She is on a team with 6 other girls, all between the ages of 6 & 7.  Their team name is the Golden Eagles.  There first game was hot and muggy but the girls did great!  The opposing team dominated in the first half but the Golden Eagles scored 5 unanswered goals in the second half.  Kate played hard, worked hard and did a great job!  I am very proud of her determination and endurance!

In this picture Kate is the one with the ball.

Maggie was distracted with my phone during the game and was showing Papa what she was doing.

Half time, snack time!
While taking a break during the 3rd quarter, Kate hung out with Coach Juan and Coach Austin.
Kate is jersey # 3 this year...the same number I was in water polo!

This picture cracks me up...Kate's tongue is so long that she was sticking it out to cool herself off while she ran.

Go Golden Eagles!

Great start to the season!

First days of school

We are back in school and the year is off to a great start!  Kate started 1st grade last week.  We were thrilled to find out she got the teacher we were praying for, Ms. Huser.  Kate loves her teacher, loves her class and loves this new school year.  She is super tired after school each day but she is excited to go to class the next day.  One thing that Kate has really enjoyed is buying hot lunch.  She now stays in school till 2:35 each day so she has lots of recess and lunch at school.  This new schedule adjustment seems to be an easy one for Kate.

Maggie just started her first day of pre-kindergarten this morning.  She will be in the Marvelous Monkeys class this year with Ms. Lois and Ms. Margie.  She was a bit nervous to go back to school but once she was in the classroom and sat down at the play dough table she was excited and happy.  This will be a great year for her!
