Maggie's First Birthday: Maui and Davis

Maggie was very spoiled for her first birthday and got to celebrate two times...an early party in Davis with just grandparents and then in Maui!  Below are pictures from both celebrations.

We bought this ocean cake at Safeway in Maui.  We thought the theme was very appropriate!

We brought a few presents for Maggie to open in Maui.
Maggie loved eating the frosting on the cake but did not want to eat the chocolate cake.  She spat it our when I tried to put some in her mouth.
 Messy frosting face!
Kate loved the cake!  (She definitely has a sweet tooth like her mommy!)
In Davis we had Dedushka, Gramma and Papa over for a small celebration before we left on our trip.
Dedushka and Grammalene gave Maggie a lot of very awesome books!  Maggie loves to read and was thrilled to get new ones for her collection.

Maggie also received a Cabbage Patch Doll...can you tell she is excited?

Cake time...I made Maggie a banana cake with cream cheese frosting in hopes she would want to eat the cake.

Well, the cake was met with only disgust from Maggie.  She refused to eat any of it.
The frosting was great for finger painting, though.
Gramma and Papa gave both girls a new trampoline for the backyard.
 They love the trampoline!!!

Maui: Post 4

On our very first morning in Maui (my 30th birthday) we went to our all-time favorite breakfast spot, The Gazebo!  It is a little gazebo located in Napili.  There is usually a long line and the wait is about 45 minutes or so but it is SO WORTH IT!
The setting at The Gazebo can't be beat!
Will kept the girls entertained while I waited in line.  Maggie kept trying to take a dip in the pool!

The best macadamia nut, pineapple, banana pancakes I have every had!  They are even more amazing drizzled in coconut syrup!

Kate was very excited to eat her Mickey Mouse pancake!
For my 30th birthday dinner we ate on Kaanapali Beach and finished off our meal with the famous Hula Pie.  We all devoured it!
Another favorite restaurant of ours is Cool Cats in Lahaina.  They have delicious burgers and even more amazing onion rings.

Below Cool Cats is a koi pond that the girls loved!

Maui: Post 3

We LOVE Kaanapali Beach!  We spent all of our beach time here.  The girls loved building sand castles.  Maggie did a great job not eating the sand.  Unfortunately Kate and Maggie were not thrilled about getting wet in the ocean.  Kate was knocked over by some waves and I think both were a little scared by the movement of the water.  I guess I would rather have them be a little scared and cautious then fearless!

The hotel gave the girls free buckets, shovels, sun visors and yellow sunglasses.  They were a huge hit!
View of our hotel from the beach.

 Kate loved burying her legs.

 Black Rock

Everyday at home we love listening to our favorite Maui radio station, KPOA, on our iPad and iPhones.  One of the highlights of our trip was meeting our favorite dj's at our hotel's Sunday Brunch...Island Boy and the Morning Goddess.  They were super nice...gave us all hugs and a really nice cooler filled with KPOA gifts.  It was so awesome!

The first thing that we did when we arrived in Maui was drive to Lahaina to grab lunch and stroll around.  We love Lahaina!  Here the girls are exploring the big banyan tree.
