We just got back from a quick, but amazing weekend trip to Tahoe. This fall is the first time in 3 years we haven't had soccer games to attend every Saturday. We are taking advantage of this freedom and leaving town.
Our first activity on the gorgeous Saturday morning was hiking down to Vikingsholm in Emerald Bay. The girls did an amazing job with the 2 miles of hiking, down and up the path. Unfortunately the yellow jackets were EVERYWHERE. The girls were very upset by the yellow jackets and it was impossible to really stop and take in the scenery. Every time we stopped moving they would swarm us. We were very lucky to not get any stings! Despite the pesky bees, Emerald Bay was still breathtaking!

Carvings from the amazing home that was built in the 1920's.
The trees on the hike were huge and filled with so much character!
Maggie enjoyed all the little waterfalls along the hike.
After our hike, we headed into Heavenly Village for window shopping and sightseeing. Both girls also did the bungee-trampoline. This was Maggie's first time on the trampoline and she loved it!
This was Kate's third time on the trampoline and she was determined to do a back flip!
Woo hoo! Back flip!
Will discovered a classic car show in Heavenly Village as well. There were a lot of very cool cars, including this amazing Corvette!
On Sunday morning, Maggie helped me collect pine cones around the cabin for future Christmas crafts. We had to explore very early in the morning before the bees came out to bother us. We came away with a garbage bag full of pine cones!
As we headed down the mountain, back home, we stopped at Apple Hill. It has been several years since we have gone since the crowds and traffic have gotten unbearable. However, it wasn't too bad Sunday afternoon, so we stopped for some apple cider and caramel apples.
One tradition at High Hill Ranch is to ride the ponies. It is always a hit with the girls!

Great weekend! Great memories!
