Marathon Winner!

Yesterday Kate was the first kid to cross the finish line to complete a marathon for Running Club!!!
Running Club is an after-school program that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-3pm (weather permitting).  Kids from kindergartner-3rd grade can participate.  The kids run/walk for the allotted time around a set track.  One lap on the track is equal to an 1/8th of a mile.  Each lap gets marked off and the first kid that reaches 26 miles has officially completed a marathon.  Kids lined up to cheer on Kate as she came to the finish line.  3 laps later, a 2nd grade boy finished behind her.  We are proud of Kate's accomplishment!

Kate collapsed at the finish line.

Mr Yeaman (Kate's 2nd grade teacher and Running Club coordinator) was so proud of Kate!

Winter Wonderland

We headed up to Tahoe this past weekend for a little bit of snow fun.  The trip didn't turn out quite as planned due to a burst pipe in the cabin and the threat of a flooded basement.  However, this major issue inside the cabin didn't stop us from enjoying the deepest snow we have ever seen.

It was a beautiful sight to pull up to the cabin blanketed in a very thick layer of snow.

Even the icicles didn't disappoint!

Ready to play in the snow!

Will created an awesome sled run for the girls.  I was able to capture some wonderful action shots of their thrill!

We always have to have a goofy photo after our serious ones!

Sister sledding

Exploring through the VERY deep and powdery snow didn't work as well as we hoped.  It was just too much effort to trudge through the snow so we didn't get very far!

The scenery was breathtaking though!

Even Halloween Cat enjoyed the frosty fun!

Time to head home!

As we packed up, we had to leave the cabin basement blanketed in towels, the ceiling appearing to buckle and a bucket to capture as much water as possible.  It was sad to see the basement in such a bad state.  Praise God for insurance!
