Spring Break: San Francisco Zoo

On Thursday of Spring Break we headed to the San Francisco Zoo.  The forecast called for a gray, cloudy and cold day.  We were surprisingly blessed with beautiful, sunny and breezy weather.  Our drive to the zoo was a piece of cake and the girls were so well-behaved the entire day.  It was a wonderful and very memorable experience!

We loved seeing all the giraffes!

 Ostriches

The giraffes stayed huddled together the entire time we were observing them.

By far our favorite animals were the gorillas!  We were treated to quite a show of this young gorilla picking on the big, older gorilla.  He would throw clumps of grass into the gorillas face and then run away as fast as he could.  The big gorilla would come swinging at him and scare him off.  This game went on for about 10 minutes or so.  The size and personalities of these animals were mesmerizing and incredibly entertaining!

Pelicans (in the background is a turtle sunning himself on a log)

The zoo has an awesome playground that the kids loved playing on.  It was huge, new and full of creative little play-areas.

We all got to pet this adorable hedgehog.  She surprisingly felt very hard and rough.

Tarantula Maggie

At the end of the day, the girls got to pick out 1 item at the gift shop.  Both chose new stuffies...Kate picked out a grizzly bear and Maggie picked out a pink tiger.

Afterwards we drove to the beach to enjoy the ocean.  However, in 10 seconds we realized that the winds were too strong, the sand was blowing everywhere and all of us got tons of sand in our eyes, mouth and hair.  I snapped this picture and we quickly went back into the car to head home.

Spring Break: Saturday Happenings

Gramma and Papa watched the girls for us for 2 nights during Spring Break.  During our time of freedom, Will and I took a beautiful hike in Pena Adobe Park, located in Vacaville.  Everything was so green and gorgeous and the weather was perfectly sunny.  After our hike, we stopped in a mattress store and bought ourselves a king-sized mattress (finally!).  Woo hoo!  Maybe it wasn't the most romantic date, but it was so much easier shopping without the kids.

Gramma and Papa took the girls to Tilden with Cousin Mckenna and Auntie Jess.  Looks like they were not missing us while they were with Gramma and Papa!

Grrrrr....

Spring Break: Fairytale Town

On Tuesday we headed to Fairytale Town in Sacramento with Gramma and Cousin Mckenna.  We enjoyed a quiet and beautiful morning while exploring and playing around the park.

Thanks Gramma for a wonderful outing!

On Wednesday we had a very breezy day, which was perfect for flying kites in our park.

Sadly, Kate's kite flew so high in the air that it slipped out of Maggie's hold and got stuck in the tree.  See the tiny white speck above the tree?  That is Kate's lost kite.

Rescue in the Night

Kate and Maggie just wrapped up an exhausting and exhilarating weekend of performing in our church kid's choir musical "Rescue in the Night" (a.k.a. Daniel in the lion's den).  The kids did an amazing job putting this musical on, directed by our beloved Aunt Carol  Kate even had a special line that got quite a reaction from the audience (see video below).  Kate also had a small group solo and Maggie was a very animated and entertaining performer in the front row.  It was so fun watching our kids shine!

Until next year...

Kate's small group solo

Kate got to sing a solo with a small group of 4 girls.  She was so proud of her singing solo!

Step Into Our Den

Kate was a fantastic lion, delivering her line flawlessly and getting tons of laughs.  She is certainly a natural!

Oh No! Tell The King!

Maggie really got into singing and doing all the hand motions and facial expressions during the musical.  She is a natural...just like her sister!
