Kauai Anniversary Trip: Poipu

We just got back from an amazing 12-night trip to Kauai.  We traveled there with the girls to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary.  While in Kauai we stayed on 2 different sides of the island and saw several different sights.  I will do a few different blog posts for the different areas we stayed.  Our first place we stayed was in Poipu (east side of the island) in a 1 bedroom condo at Kiahuna Plantation.  This was certainly the lesser part of our trip...more crowded, less private and not as good of a beach.

We started off our trip visiting Spouting Horn blow-hole.

One of the first things we bought the girls were hula costumes.  They would put on hula shows for us ad run around the condo grounds.  It was super cute to watch!

We had a family of baby chickens that would come and beg for food.  The girls would feed them crackers and some would eat it right out of their hand!

 Our beach at the condo

The pool associated with our condo was across the main street so we would have to drive there.  The pool was awesome with waterfalls, water slides and there was a sandy area perfect for Maggie.  It was usually not crowded and a huge highlight of our stay in Poipu.
The water slide was so much fun.  Kate got really good at going down by herself.  Maggie even went down with me a few times.

One excursion that we took was to our honeymoon hotel and beach.  We showed the girls the pool where we would lounge at and the beach that we enjoyed.  The pool and beach were much bigger than we remembered!
Maggie fell asleep on the way to the beach so Kate helped me take this picture of her passed out.

We also took an excursion to Waimea Canyon.  The scenery was gorgeous but the trip was interrupted by a bee that gave Kate her first bee sting.  Poor girl got stung on her leg.  Thankfully Will was able to get some ice at a food truck parked near the canyon so she was able to numb the pain and continue on her sightseeing of the canyon.

We stopped to get some shave ice on the way home from Waimea Canyon.  The bottom of the shave ice had macadamia nut ice cream...yum!
One our favorite restaurants in Poipu was called Da Crack.  It was literally a hole-in-the-wall with excellent (and cheap) Mexican food.  We ate there a couple of times and it didn't disappoint!
 Last sunset in Poipu!
