Tummy Time

Kate loves her tummy time. Everyday she gets stronger and can hold her head up higher for longer periods of time. At times she can even roll herself on to her back.

Is that really comfy?

We had bible study over at our house the other night. Kate was getting a little fussy so my friend Brenna decided to take her and bounce her for me. It took Kate a while to settle down but she finally fell asleep. This sleeping position doesn't look too comfy, but I guess it works. Brenna is pregnant with a baby girl, due in December, so Kate had to work around (or over) Brenna's growing belly. :-)

Happy 2 Months!!!

Kate turns 2 months old today. To start her special day off she slept for 6 straight hours and then another 3. She didn't wake up until 9:30am which gave me plenty of time to get things done around the house. One plan we had for the day was to visit my old workplace. Well our plans fell through the cracks with an unexpected incident. I fed Kate right after she woke up and while she was enjoying her breakfast she decided she needed to go the bathroom. Now I don't mean to make this blog all about my daughter's poop, but she just surprises me everyday with what she is capable of. This morning her poop exploded out of her diaper and went everywhere again. Thankfully I had a blanket wrapped around her so the poop was somewhat contained but it still managed to get all over her, the blanket, and a little on the couch. I had to give her an emergency bath which was quite an experience since Will and I usually tag team this together. Needless to say we did not make it out of the house this morning. She is now taking a little nap while I get ready for Gramma to watch her for an hour while I swim. Hopefully there won't be too many more surprises today.

Playing with Daddy

Will and Kate had a lot of fun playing last night. There were lots of giggles and smiles for her daddy.

Sleeping Beauty

The other night Kate fell asleep in my arms and she remained in my arms for over an hour while Will and I finished a movie. After the movie we put her to bed and she remained sleeping until 2:00am which meant she slept for 5.5 uninterrupted hours! The past week Kate has been sleeping wonderfully, usually giving us a 4 to 6 hour stretch at the beginning of the night and then another 2 hour stretch after a 30 minute feed. It has been great!

Isn't Kate cute? I am so obsessed with my daughter. I love her so much!

Rough day

Kate had her first round of immunizations yesterday. It was quite a traumatic experience. Right when she was stuck with the first needle she screamed so hard she turned bright red and stopped breathing. It was very sad to see her in so much pain. Thankfully Will suggested that we give her Tylenol before the appointment and I think it helped her calm down pretty quickly after the whole event. She fell asleep on our way home from the doctors which was a great surprise.

Poop EXPLOSION!!!

Kate and I had quite an interesting experience this morning. I was changing her diaper and while I was about to put her new diaper on she sneezed. The sneezed caused her to poop which exploded about 3 feet in the air and landed on our rocker. The poop got everywhere! Thank goodness for easy to clean fabrics and our bouncy seat that kept her happy while I cleaned up. We have had poop explosions before which usually hit our hand, but never has it flown so far. This must be some sort of record!

Doctor's appointment

Yesterday Kate had a doctor's appointment and at 7 weeks she weighed in at 11 pounds 2 ounces which puts her in the 75 percentile. We also measured her at home and she is 23 inches long. The doctor is very pleased with her growth. Kate was a true champion at the doctor's office. She slept in my arms most of the time and once she was awake she smiled at the doctor. Next week we have to go in for her first round of immunizations which should be quite an adventure!
