Kate had her first City Championships this past weekend. We were unsure how this 3-day event would go, but it was a fun-filled experience with lots of success!
The entire Summerdart swim team program was broken into 3 teams for the championships. Kate was on the red team and she was thrilled to try on a swim cap for the very first time.
Maggie loved the shaved ice from the snack bar and the flavor combo turned her tongue black.
We tried to prepare Kate that there would be a lot of competition and so we were encouraging her to have fun and try her hardest. After the first night she had taken home a SILVER in 25 yard kicking and GOLD in 25 yard freestyle! We had no idea she would be fast enough to win medals! We were so proud of her swimming!
The second and third days progressed to be more fun and even more successful. Kate loved the competition and swimming...she is a natural!
Maggie was a true trooper and very easy-going during the whole meet. She kept busy with coloring, snacking and cheering on Kate.
Will and I braved the parent relay on Saturday morning. We had a blast sprinting for 25 yards and supporting the red team.
At the end of the weekend Kate took home 3 GOLD medals and 3 SILVER medals...she was the best 6 and under girl and possibly the highest scorer of the whole weekend! Her gold medal events were in the 25 free, 25 back and 25 fly. Her silver medal events were 25 kick, 25 breast and over-unders. We are so incredibly proud of our amazing swimmer! Go Kate!
